Install FINAL FANTASY XI |

Make sure DirectPlay is installed, you can do this by pressing <WINKEY>+<R> and running appwiz.cpl and then clicking on Turn Windows features on or off and then making sure DirectPlay is selected under Legacy Components . |

Install FINAL FANTASY XI and PlayOnline viewer. Once finished, launch PlayOnline viewer to allow it to update to the latest version. |

Update FINAL FANTASY XI |
|
In order to use the quick update method you must have first done the normal update with an active account. You can use an active FFXI subscription, a trial account or login during one of the Return Home to Van'diel campaigns which allow former subscribers to login for free. |

Once you have updated the game using an active account you can then use the quick method of updating (which does not require an active account). |

Inside the directory PlayOnline\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI\ROM\0\ delete 0.DAT . |
Launch PlayOnline Viewer and select Check Files from the left side of the screen. |
Select FINAL FANTASY XI from the drop-down menu and then select Check Files . |
This will find errors (due to deleting 0.DAT ) select File Repair and then Yes . |
Once complete you may exit PlayOnline Viewer with a fully updated FINAL FANTASY XI. |

Connecting to AfterHours

With an updated copy of FINAL FANTASY XI you are now ready to connect to the server. |
|
Download the latest version of Ashita v4. |
Copy config\boot\example-privateserver.ini to config\boot\afterhours.ini . |
Open up config\boot\afterhours.ini with a text editor. |

Make a shortcut to ashita-cli.exe and then add the config as an argument to read: ashita-cli.exe afterhours.ini . |
Launch Ashita and create a new account to login. |
